TAMPA-ST. PETERSBURG CHAPTER CHAPTER - May 29, 2019 |
Super Bowl Winning Coach Tony Dungy Inspires with Leadership Talk |
Coach Tony Dungy was the guest speaker for the chapter's May luncheon. Dungy is a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Super Bowl-winning coach of the Indianapolis Colts, NFL Hall of Fame, analyst for NBC's Football Night In America, and a New York Times bestselling author. Dungy's words and example have intrigued millions of people, particularly following his victory in Super Bowl XLI, the first for an African American coach. How is it possible for a coach-especially a football coach-to win the respect of his players and lead them to the Super Bowl minus the screaming histrionics or profanities, and without demanding that the sport come before anything else? Dungy gave an inspiring talk in which he explained the secrets to his success. Principles, practices and priorities have kept him on track despite overwhelming obstacles, including personal trials, firings and stereotypes. Dungy signed books immediately following the event. It was a great turnout and presented an opportunity for valuable networking. |
