Women's Appreciation Event 2017: Women in Cyber

Celebrating Women in Cyber with AFCEA

Wednesday, February 22, 2017
4:00pm - 6:00pm
Exhibit Hall A, San Diego Convention Center

Our fourth annual women's appreciation event was a huge success with more than double the number of attendees as in 2016!  The focus was on Women in Cyber and kicked off with a networking session for those in the IT, communications, intel and cyber community.  This was followed with a highly anticipated panel discussion on Women in Cyber, moderated by retired Admiral Nancy Brown, and headlined by Rear Admiral Jan Tighe, USN. The event culminated with the presentation of the women's appreciation awards for 2017.  All five winners were present to receive their award, and all made insightful comments on being a women in what was historically a man's field.

This ceremony recognized and honored AFCEA members (both women and men) receiving the women's appreciation award in recognition of their going above and beyond to further the careers of women in numerous ways, including supporting their professional development; acting as a mentor; promoting STEM scholarships to female students; sponsoring or advocating for a promotion for highly qualified female candidates; and contributing to development of opportunities for females in the workforce.
