The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has been tasked with an operational role in the cyber domain, namely network defense. The new role creates a formal relationship between the agency, U.S. Cyber Command and its military service components; integrates network operations and defense; and should ultimately improve security. This centerpiece of the Department of Defense's information sharing and security strategy depends on a matrix of participating organizations to adapt technical solutions and adopt enterprise management in the name of efficiency, security, and reliability. A community of partners, linked by commitment to cyber security, will gather together at the symposium to understand the state of current and future developments in this "mission imperative."AFCEA International is proud to host an important conversation among these mission partners at its 2015 Defensive Cyber Operations Symposium at the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, Maryland from May 5-7, 2015. Addressing the progress and way ahead, participants will include: Chief Information Officer, Department of Defense; Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA); USCYBERCOM; Military Services; Intelligence Community; Other Government Offices and Agencies; Industry; and Academia. The operational theme centers on the teamwork, relevant guidance and priorities, and associated perspectives of mission partners united in development of an integrated approach to operating and defending the network.
