The Idaho National Laboratory has been a pioneer in partnering with industry, academia and other federal laboratories/agencies to bridge the gap between applied research and market- driven technology needs. A primary mission is to perform research, development, modeling/simulation and testing of critical infrastructures on its 890-square-mile critical infrastructure test range. Billions of dollars of infrastructure investment include extensive communications systems, SCADA/process control, power test bed, cyber-security, armor systems and explosives test environments.
National security key capabilities include development of prototype-engineered systems, testing of large-scale systems and vast test infrastructures on an 890-square-mile range.
Department of Energy and its sponsors, DOD, Department of Homeland Security, federal agencies and private industry, emphasizing infrastructure asset owners and technology providers.
