| Description: |
In the context of digital transformation and the growing complexity of
operational scenarios, critical communications and autonomous mobility are
central elements for security, resilience, and operational effectiveness across
multiple domains: land, sea, air, space, and cyber. The conference proposed by
the Rome Chapter of AFCEA International aims to examine the new technological
and operational challenges related to the management of secure and autonomous
networks, capable of ensuring continuity and reliability even in degraded
environments or high-threat scenarios. The integration of unmanned systems,
5G/6G technologies, LEO satellites, SDR, and artificial intelligence makes it
possible to create cognitive infrastructures able to adapt, predict, and
optimize in real time.
The networks of the future will no longer be merely data transport
infrastructures, but intelligent and autonomous ecosystems: digital organisms
that learn from information flows and react dynamically to operational
conditions. Intelligent automation, combined with paradigms such as Software
Defined Networking and network slicing, makes it possible to orchestrate multi-
cloud resources, manage latency, and ensure end-to-end security even in complex
and distributed environments. The ability to jam communications is becoming a
distinguishing element of Cyber Electro Magnetic Activities (CEMA), which are
essential in modern Multi-Domain Operations (MDO), together with the need to
reduce latency.
The conference will provide an overview of the enabling technologies for
defence and mission-critical infrastructures, comparing experiences from the
military, institutional, academic, and industrial worlds in order to outline
development prospects toward a cognitive, resilient, and autonomous network
model, capable of supporting intelligent mobility and the multi-domain
operations of the future. Speakers will include representatives from the
National Armaments Directorate, the Italian Army General Staff, the Signal
Command, Leonardo, Thales Alenia Space Italia, Elettronica, Telespazio,
Larimart, Maticmind, Polo Marconi, and the CNR in Turin. |
