| Description: |
The availability of reliable, timely, and
protected information is now a fundamental
enabling factor for addressing the major global
challenges ranging from geopolitics and
environmental sustainability to the security of
critical infrastructures. In this context,
institutions and organizations increasingly rely
on advanced technologies to support decision-
making processes, both at strategic and
operational levels.
The growing complexity of the international
landscape, characterized by conflicts,
environmental crises, and technological risks,
requires an integrated and multidisciplinary
approach capable of connecting different domains,
skills, and capabilities. Emerging technologies
represent both an enabling factor and a source of
new vulnerabilities, making investments in
research, standardization, and the development of
specialized expertise essential in order to ensure
resilience and effective governance of complex
systems.
Contemporary intelligence is based on the
integration of heterogeneous information sources
and the use of advanced digital infrastructures,
sophisticated observation systems, data analytics
tools, and artificial intelligence solutions.
Within this framework, the convergence between the
civilian and defense sectors is becoming
increasingly significant, following a dual-use
logic that enables effective responses to both
public security needs and military operational
requirements. Collaboration among institutions,
industry, and academia therefore plays a central
role in the development of innovative and
interoperable solutions.
The protection of critical infrastructures - such
as energy networks, transportation systems,
communications, and water resources - requires the
adoption of advanced security models based on
cybersecurity, continuous monitoring, and rapid
response capabilities. In this field, quantum
technologies and advanced cybersecurity solutions
are assuming an increasingly strategic role,
contributing to the strengthening of data and
infrastructure protection.
At the same time, satellite observation
capabilities, integrated with terrestrial, aerial,
and maritime sensors, represent a key element for
territorial monitoring, risk prevention, and the
fight against illicit activities. However, the
growing dependence on space infrastructures
introduces new critical issues, including cyber
threats, interference, and challenges related to
the sustainability of the orbital environment, all
of which require a coordinated approach and
structured international cooperation.
In this scenario, the security and resilience of
complex systems increasingly depend on the ability
to integrate emerging technologies, strengthen the
protection of critical infrastructures, and
promote effective collaboration between public and
private stakeholders. Only through a systemic,
cross-domain, and multi-level approach will it be
possible to effectively address global challenges
and contribute to the development of a secure,
resilient, and sustainable ecosystem. |
