Partner with Other Associations for Increased Exposure by Aberdeen Chapter

Bring together all the local associations for one big event. This allows exposure of AFCEA to members of other associations who may have not had the chance to participate in the AFCEA community. Aberdeen does this by working with AAAA, AUSA, SCRA and FA Assn at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Flyer for event - http://www.afcea.org/files/BestPractices/AberdeenBestPractice Flyer.pdf

Last-Minute Speaker Cancellations by At-Large Chapter

When a speaker cancels at the last minute, and they are not expected or able to send a deputy or representative from their office, the Chapter should have a list of backup speakers prepared ahead of time to avoid Board members having to find a last minute replacement. Board members should network to find local retired general officers with canned speeches who can serve as backup speakers. A final backup plan is to hold a free membership meeting.

Retaining Active-Duty Attendance When Events are Held Off-Base by At-Large Chapter

When events become too large to hold on a base, some ideas on how to retain active duty attendance were brainstormed as follows: ¿Provide shuttle buses between the event venue and the base ¿Request the speaker to advertise to his employees ¿Ensure the CIO designates the event acceptable to attend, and designates the venue as the workplace for the day ¿Advertise the event as a professional development event ¿Have a sponsorship program with half the chairs on those tables free for active military attendees ¿Invite the CIO, CTO etc. to speak and encourage their employees to attend ¿Create an award for military and civilian government and present it at chapter events (Middle Georgia Chapter is already doing this) ¿Extend a discounted rate to retired military in the area not currently employed by large companies

Working with Exposition Contractors by Vandenberg-Central Coast Chapter

Worked out a deal with a tech expo contractor to provide a donation back to our AFCEA chapter from the next tech expo. I had done this at my last base, and recently finalized an agreement to get money per exhibitor. Min work for the chapter, we get a tech expo, and we get money into our scholarship fund.
