Updated on 1/15/10: The My Soldier program is no longer operational; however, for those who are still interested in supporting the troops through letters and care packages, another excellent option is the Adopt a U.S. Soldier program. The Adopt a U.S. Soldier organization allows citizens to support troops by sending e-mails, letters and packages. You can obtain more information and register for the program at http://www.adoptaussoldier.org/preregistration.htm. The programs listed on these pages are not affiliated with our publication or association. We highlight these independent efforts as a service to our military and our readers. For more information about these programs, please contact the organizations directly.

I work at Gurwin's Assistive Living Residences and I am registering on behalf of my "Creative Writing" group which consists of about 7 men and women, (mostly women) in their 80's or so that are VERY interested in supporting our Troops and the letter-writing portion of your program. Thank you.

How can I enroll, to write a solider?

Hi Kimberly: I've passed this along to Rita so that she can get you information. She is out of the office this week, but we'll have something for you when she gets back.

Susan and Kimberly,

Thank you for your questions and your interest in this program. Unfortunately, since the original posting of this item in SIGNAL Connections, Manhattanville College has ceased to operate the program. However, if you are still interested in supporting the troops through letters and care packages another excellent option is the Adopt a Soldier program.

The Adopt a Soldier organization allows citizens to support troops by sending e-mails, letters and packages. You can obtain more information and register for the program at this site: http://www.adoptaussoldier.org/preregistration.htm.

Thank you again for your interest in our publication and in the care of our service men and women.

How do I enroll to write to a soldier?

Hi Aviella,

If you visit the Web site http://adoptaussoldier.org/preregistration.htm you can read about the process to adopt a soldier and then agree to the terms. After you've done that, you can register and within three days they should send you information about the soldier you've adopted.

Thank you for your interest in our publication and our troops.

Rita

I too would like to know how to get in touch w/a solider. I would love to write them and send care packages. Most of all support them and make new friends!

Hi Cori,

Thanks for your comment (and enthusiasm!). For more information about the program and how to get involved, visit the Web site: http://adoptaussoldier.org/preregistration.htm. Read the information and agree to the terms, then you can register. You should receive information in three days about the soldier you have adopted.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy Holidays!

Katie
