PlantCML, an EADS North America company, recently received a five-year contract from NASA to provide the Communicator!NXT emergency notification system, which alerts employees, contractors and visitors via multiple communications devices, including landline telephones, cell phones, smartphones, pagers and emails of an emergency, such as fire, inclement weather, evacuations, security threats and building lockdowns.

The European Space Agency has awarded Astrum, a subsidiary of EADS, a 105 million Euro contract to build the Sentinel 2-B optical satellite. When complete the Earth observation satellite will join the Sentinel 2-A spacecraft to cover all of the planet's land masses in five-day cycles, sending back data and images for at least 15 years.

The German Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement has awarded EADS with a series production contract for the EUA/OSS system designed to combine operational command and control with technical and logistics support for German military Tiger attack and NH90 transport helicopters. The EUA/OSS is a scalable information technology system that permits mission planning based on tactical and logistical data to increase the accuracy of flight preparation.

EADS North America has received a five-year contract valued at $85 million from the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to provide commercial radar satellite data for use in intelligence, military and homeland security applications. Under the contract, the company will supply imagery from its TerraSAR-X synthetic aperture radar satellite, along with related products and direct downlink services.

The U.S. Army has awarded EADS North American Defense a $247 million contract for the service's Light Utility Helicopter program. Under the contact, the company will produce 45 light utility helicopters, 30 medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) mission equipment packages, 30 MEDEVAC B-kits, 30 hoist B-kits, four very important personnel mission equipment packages, 11 engine inlet barrier filters, 34 environmental control units, and 45 airborne radio communications 231s.

Germany's Federal Office of Information Management and Information Technology of the Bundeswehr has awarded EADS a contract to set up a nationwide TETRAPOL radio network in Djibouti. The contract is an extension of the TETRAPOL radio network installed by EADS for the police in Djibouti City as part of the German government's equipment support program in 2008.

Astrium Services, a subsidiary of EADS, has been awarded a contract by the F125 ARGE, a joint venture of Thyssen-Krupp and Lurrsen, to install satellite communications terminals in the German navy's four new F125 class frigates. The SCOT 6 terminals can operate in the X-band and can be modified for dual X-Ku band options.
