Submarine Force Faces Challenges

F. Scott DiLisio, executive director, Commander Submarine Forces, served as the guest speaker at the October meeting. DiLisio discussed the complexity of issues and constraints facing the submarine force in the current acquisition and operations environment. He also noted that the budgets currently are as high as they have ever been, but that will change in the next two years. The chapter recognized Thom Crabtree, chapter vice president for plans and programs, as the AFCEAN of the Month for September, and Lt. Cmdr. Douglas Vanderlip, USN, chapter vice president for military affairs, received the AFCEAN of the Month Award for October. Cmdr. Michelle Hillmeyer, USN, accepted the Cyber Professional Award for September, and Lt. Cmdr. Saundra Irving, USN, received the same award for October.

In October, the chapter honors members of its Golf Committee for their dedication at the annual tournament, which raised more scholarship funds than in previous years.
