MONTGOMERY CHAPTER CHAPTER - Nov 22, 2013

Robotics Team Demos for Local Business Professionals

In November, six students from Wetumpka High Schools STEAM Machine Robotics Program briefed an impressive mock pitch regarding their newly constructed robot, nicknamed Squeaky, to the Montgomery Industry Partners (MIP) group. The students conducting the presentation ranged from freshman to senior grade levels; however, the skill and professionalism each student contributed during the pitch was unanimously pristine. The presentation consisted of the students outlining planning and construction components of building Squeaky. MIP professionals critiqued the students post-presentation and provided them valuable feedback to enhance their presentation in preparation for the upcoming War Eagle BEST Competition. The premise of War Eagle BEST centers on the robotics team giving a mock marketing pitch to sell Squeaky and its ability to construct a CPU over various stages of fabrication. Currently in its eleventh year, Wetumpka High Schools Robotics program is thriving and is led by Dr. Virginia Vilardi as she continues into her eighth year with the program. The chapter's Education Foundation is a strong supporter of the Wetumpka High School Robotics Program and recently provided $5,000 for essential classroom equipment upgrades. Both MIP and the chapter wish best of luck to the students of the robotics program in their upcoming competitions and look forward to watching their continued growth.
