El Paso, TX - June 8th, 2023 - The AFCEA El Paso
Chapter (EPC) hosted a successful luncheon
highlighting the latest cyber threats the
community faces. The event's keynote speaker was
FBI Computer Scientist Tommy Armendariz, who
shared his extensive expertise on current cyber
scams, their impacts, and basic cybersecurity
strategies. Attendees gained valuable insight into
the techniques cyber criminals use along with
actionable strategies to safeguard their
organizations against ever-evolving cyber threats.
The President of the AFCEA El Paso Chapter, Andrew
Hair, conveyed his appreciation to Mr. Armendariz
for sharing his presentation and valuable
insights. Hair expressed his sincere gratitude to
Mr. Armendariz for his expertise on a topic of
immense interest to everyone. He also mentioned
that they learned a great deal about the FBI's
role in defeating our cyber adversaries.
The luncheon also served as a platform for
professionals to connect, exchange ideas, and
cultivate meaningful relationships. The El Paso
Chapter aims to fortify El Paso's industry,
academic and military communities by fostering
professional connections and contributing to the
region's growing technical/industrial base. The
Chapter is planning additional luncheons in the
coming months covering various local military and
academic experts in cyber and drone technology,
among other topics.
