In any defence scenario, it is critical that the
right information be available at the right time.
The growth of the defence Internet of Things (IoT)
has only exacerbated this need, as has the
adoption
of open-source intelligence (OSINT) and commercial
sources. Users and systems are being inundated
with
data, with varying levels of assurance and
quality.
However, the wider adoption of digital data and
workflows in defence provides opportunities for
automation, which can help with data processing
and
dissemination. This can, in turn, be eased by
using
commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software that is
supported and updated to maintain an evergreen
solution. Whether data is then pushed out or
accessed on demand, it can be packaged in a way as
to not overload users.
