Our Special Guest Dr. Watson serves as a Deputy
Chief Scientist of the AirForce Technical
Applications Center (AFTAC), Patrick Space Force
Base. AFTAC provides national authorities quality
technical measurements to monitor nuclear treaty
compliance and develops advanced proliferation
detection technologies to preserve our nation's
security.
AFTAC maintains and operates the U.S. Atomic
Energy Detection System, using scientific means to
obtain and evaluate technical data on nuclear
treaty monitoring and compliance to signatory
foreign government nations. To fulfill its
mission, AFTAC partners with national
laboratories, academia, and industry on
multidisciplinary research across the physical
sciences, data science, and engineering
disciplines.
AFTAC seeks to strengthen its partnership with the
local community and will speak at the next AFCEA
event. AFTAC hosts multiple Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives
for community members and local youth while
empowering under-represented groups in STEM,
specifically, the 10th Annual Women in Science and
Engineering (WiSE) multiday event. Dr. Watson
will provide a short mission overview, information
for small businesses, and promote and seek
partnerships for AFTAC's 2024 WiSE Symposium.
Come be a part of this fun event and get a chance
to join the organization, meet members, and be a
part of building AFCEA on the Space Coast. Our
last event had over 45 attendees.
