Our 11th January 2024 meeting will be held in the
Battle of Britain Suite in the RAF Club, when our
guest speaker will be Maj Gen (Retd) Bill Robins.
Bill was fascinated to learn that many of the
great houses around Buckinghamshire supported
venomous secret wars conducted quietly and
lethally beneath the titanic battles around the
globe. They were run by extraordinary leaders.
Much about them has stayed in secret archives
since 1945. Historians are now unwrapping more.
This talk, Secrets, Silk and Cyanide, will focus
largely on the Special Operations Executive (SOE)
and will put its work into the wider context of
information and intelligence operations run by
several other, equally remarkable agencies.
