Description: |
2024 is also characterized by extreme weather
events, floods and heavy rains as well as long
periods of intense heat and drought, on the verge
of beating the record of 2023, which had reached
the second place among the hottest in the series.
These data indicate that climate evolution
represents a crucial element for its impacts on
the environment, the economy and the security of
our country.
Given the growing incidence of extreme events with
the high social and economic costs that result,
the analysis of climate variations, from the
national to the regional and local scale,
constitutes a necessary basis for the assessment
of impacts on the territory. At the same time, it
is necessary to limit, on the basis of the 2015
Paris Agreement, global warming and combat climate
change, containing the increase in the average
global temperature below 2 degrees C.
In this context, after having already previously
organized events on the topic of Meteorology,
AFCEA Chapter of Rome intends to organize a new
conference to extend the topic to climate change,
involving the numerous actors involved in the
various fields, both for the tasks necessary for
the safety and protection of the territory and
people, and for the creation of technological
tools to support the study of these phenomena,
aimed at defining a climate resilience strategy.
Therefore, the event aims to explore how
institutions and companies are dealing with these
issues, for example through technologies aimed at
the exploration and monitoring of the Earth's
surface and climate or even mapping with satellite
systems, underlining the importance of an
integrated approach between the various bodies, to
address these challenges and at the same time
guarantee the safety and economic competitiveness
of the country. |
