Group Captain Ben Sharp will discuss how the
Ministry
of Defence's approach to space as an operational,
warfighting domain has advanced over the last 5
years
- alongside our society's dependence on space
technology, which continues to increase alongside
the
threats to space systems from natural phenomena,
adversary action and the congestion of Earth's
orbits.
He will provide an overview of the MOD's Space-
Based
Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance
programme and reflect on his work as its programme
director.
Ben has been a RAF officer since 2002 and has
served
around the world, leading teams to provide
communication services that have enabled British
military operations. More recently, he has been
overseeing the development, delivery and operation
of
space systems for the Ministry of Defence, becoming
one of the first people to join UK Space Command
when
it formed in 2021.
