Event Speaker: |
Julie M. Stark, Ph.D. is the Science and Technology
Manager for Combatant Craft for NSWC Carderock
Division and the Director of the NavalX Mid-Atlantic
Tech Bridge. Dr. Stark is a subject matter expert in
Human Factors Ergonomics, Autonomy and Automation,
Unmanned Systems, Robotics, Warfighter Performance,
and Systems Design. She serves on the Carderock
Command Science and Technology Council, is the Lead
Human Factors Scientist, and is a direct report to
the Commanding Officer as the Director of the Human
Research Protection Program for NSWC Carderock
Division. As Director of the NavalX Mid-Atlantic Tech
Bridge (MATB), she is helping to be a super-connector
between non-traditional industry partners and the
Naval Research Enterprise. The MATB also leads
impactful industry engagement activities including a
Defense Accelerator to identify innovative partners
that can make an impact to the DOD. Dr. Stark was
previously detailed to the Office of Naval Research
Global London headquarters to serve as the Director
for Autonomy and Unmanned Systems; in this position,
she was responsible for developing an international
portfolio to enhance Global collaborative
opportunities that support the Naval Research
Enterprise and the Naval Science and Technology
Strategic Plan. Dr. Stark was the liaison to Italy,
Croatia, and the NATO Centre for Maritime Research
and Experimentation (CMRE). She continues to
participate in a number of NATO and other
international committees and activities of interest
to the US Navy including being the Chairperson for
the International Human Performance at Sea Working
Group. Prior to her last 20+ years working for the US
Navy, she worked at several other agencies including
Joint Staff, SPAWAR, and NASA. Dr. Stark was a
National Science Fellow at NASA Langley where she
conducted research on automation and synthetic vision
systems for the Aviation Safety Program. |
