In today's hyperconnected landscape, critical
infrastructure operators and essential entities
face unprecedented regulatory pressure, driven by
the need to address cyber threats that are
increasingly exacerbated by geopolitical
developments and the growing role of Artificial
Intelligence.
In an environment where IT and OT infrastructures
are becoming increasingly interconnected, the
implementation of a Zero Trust model-based on the
principle of "never trust, always verify" is
emerging as a key enabler both for enhancing cyber
resilience and safeguarding data sovereignty.
In this context, where control over information
flows and the location and exposure of data are
essential to digital independence, Zero Trust
enables access to information to be tailored
according to identity and context, ensuring that
sensitive data remain protected from external
interference and unauthorised access.
The proactive adoption of quantum-safe encryption
policies can further strengthen the overall
security posture against increasingly sophisticated
data-exfiltration techniques. This is particularly
important in industrial environments, where the
overriding priority has traditionally been
"operational continuity" rather than
"cybersecurity."
Adopting a Zero Trust model today therefore means
not only protecting access to resources, but also
actively governing where and how data are
processed, stored and shared. In doing so,
organisations can safeguard digital sovereignty and
