| The Ottawa Chapter is focused on the Canadian Military, DND, PSPC, CCCE, CSE, CSIS and RMCP. It holds monthly PD Luncheons, which generally have presenters from military or high end government, with a few high end Industry speakers. Keeping with a Military theme in November our PD Luncheons usually centre around Remembrance day.
In November 2012 we were honoured to have Col Hart a 95 year Veteran whos quick actions within the 6th Brigade led to him being awarded the honour of the Military Medal for bravery from King George Vl at Buckingham Palace. PD Luncheons are open to all members, military and Government. The chapter holds at least three to four executive Breakfasts each year. These have higher ranking speakers and are open to all military, government and AFCEA corporate members. The general membership is by invitation only to Executive breakfasts. The AFCEA Ottawa chapter proudly boosts a long history of an annual IT Security Course and a Golf Tournament, both of which have a 20 year plus running. The IT Security Course is held each fall and attracts students from across Canada and beyond our borders. This course is attended mainly by Military, Government and RCMP, with a limited amount of private sector students attending. The AFCEA Golf tournament is by far our largest event and it is held each spring. The golf tournament is mainly attended by our membership, Military and Government personnel. In addition the chapter will hold special events or training courses from time to time. The AFCEA Ottawa Chapter supports the Military Family Resource Centre as our main Charity of choice. |
