|The Dayton-Wright AFCEA Chapter is based out of the Dayton/Wright Patterson Air Force Base region. WPAFB Major Units include: HQ AFMC, AFLCMC, NASIC, AFRL, AFIT, 88 ABW & Group, 445TH Wing, and the National Museum of the USAF, as well as the Springfield Air National Guard.
The Chapter Executive Committee and Board of Directors are made up of volunteers from Government, Industry and Academia who put in countless hours to support Chapter initiatives. Monthly membership luncheons feature Government, Industry and Academic leaders who speak on the current events or programs that make up our community. The luncheons are generally held the third Thursday of each month at the Holiday Inn Fairborn Ohio or virtually except during months of another scheduled major event.
In addition to our luncheons, we hold other events such as Chapter Networking socials, Young AFCEAN Power Breakfasts and YAC socials, and membership events that provide a forum for our members and those interested in AFCEA to come together to assist each other through joint dialogue. Other annual events include a Casino Night and a Wright Information Technology Summit (WITS) conference held virtually in 2020 due to COVID restrictions. WITS was proceeded by a membership social event. Net proceeds are used to support scholarship and educational programs.
The DWAFCEA Chapter supports scholarships, grants and awards for teachers and students enhancing or pursuing technical programs; scholastic assistance to military enlisted personnel; Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) schools; awards to Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) graduate students for research excellence. Excess net operational funds are transferred upon Chapter Board approval at the end of each year to the Dayton-Wright Chapter Education Assistance Endowment Fund managed by the Dayton Foundation.
