|The Greater Omaha Chapter of AFCEA, is a non-profit group focused on bringing government, military, industry, and academia together to exchange information, explore technical advancements, and expand their IT perspectives. Our membership predominantly comes from Offutt AFB as well as our local industry and academic partners in the greater Omaha community.
Our goal is to award more than $10K annually in scholarships and grants. The scholarships are awarded to deserving students pursuing science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) fields.
Additionally, we provide teaching grants to noteworthy school science programs and financially support local science fairs and robotics competitions. In addition to monthly luncheons with intriguing guest speakers, we highlight the accomplishments of our program sponsors through our "Sponsor of the Month" program. We have a thriving Young AFCEAN program. Their activities range from tour groups, to special presentations by senior executives, as well as a host of volunteer opportunities.
Membership is intended to enhance one's professional development as an IT professional. The chapter hosts an annual golf tournament, a 5K run, and we support an annual TechExpo which helps bolster our scholarship program. Some members actively participate on the Omaha Chamber of Commerce STEM subcommittee and serve as honorary chairpersons for the annual Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair. These opportunities provide a way to bring military, government, industry, and academia together to advance STEM in the local community.
