Chapter Focus | |
AFCEA-LA's primary focus is the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo and the related Aerospace Industry in Southern California. SMC is the center of technical excellence for research, development and acquisition of the National Security Space Systems, with over 2000 contractors worldwide serving it, including many located in the LA basin who benefit from AFCEA's endeavors to connect people to foster exchange of information and education. We are pleased to have well over 100 corporate sponsorships including The Aerospace Corporation, AT&T, Booz Allen Hamilton, Boeing, ExoAnalytics, General Dynamics, Harris, IBM, Leidos, Lockheed Martin, Mitre, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Rockwell Collins, Engility and Deloitte. The Los Angeles Chapter provides forums for the legal and ethical exchange of relevant technology and policy information at monthly "Lunch and Learn" events and by co-sponsoring events such as the GPS Partnership Council, MilSatCom Symposium, small business workshops, and the annual Space Industry Days. The Chapter provides scholarships to SMC personnel and local ROTC units at UCLA, USC, and Loyola Marymount University (LMU). Our continued emphasis on supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs has resulted in gifts to local primary and secondary schools, and one perpetual STEM scholarship at El Camino Community College. | |
