AFCEA Offers Many Educational Options

Courses take place virtually and in-person for your convenience.

AFCEA’s Professional Development Center (PDC) is a great option to plan educational choices and future career decisions. Several programs offer training in both technical and management fields. AFCEA members may receive a discount on tuition either by using a code available within the member portal or by providing their member number to the organization.

Online on-demand courses are the latest feature of the association’s PDC options. Topics include Agile, AI/data science, communication, computer applications, emergency management, intelligence, leadership, project management, Six Sigma and Lean, and women in business.

Students can complete certificates in managerial topics and prepare to take certification exams from CompTIA, PMI, Six Sigma and Lean, and Agile. Many courses have been approved for continuing education credit from PMI, IACET and HRCI.

In addition to these online, on-demand courses, higher education institutions that are part of the association’s Preferred Provider Program, including the American Public University System, Montreat College and SANS Institute, offer certificates and undergraduate or graduate degrees in cybersecurity, homeland security, defense and intelligence. The Preferred Providers are National Security Agency- and Department of Homeland Security-designated Centers of Academic Excellence in cyber defense or operations, or certifying organizations responsible for cybersecurity certifications required by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Courses can be accessed online as well as at the schools’ facilities. Potential students can begin the application process online.

AFCEA’s Continuing Education program helps professionals maintain their cybersecurity certifications, which support Defense Department requirements. Many AFCEA event sessions and courses are approved for CompTIA continuing education units and/or GIAC continuing professional education.

Association members may be eligible to receive formal attendance documentation for sessions that take place at in-person events. For approved online sessions, including virtual events and SIGNAL webinars, AFCEA provides tips for preparing attendance documentation on its website.

In addition to virtual, in-person and higher education opportunities, AFCEA offers four courses in topics relevant to government agencies. Automated High Frequency Radio, Military Satellite Communications, Principles of Communication and Networks, and U.S. Intelligence are offered to military and government agencies as well as the companies that do business with these organizations. The courses are offered at a fixed fee for up to 20 students and are available in-person or in virtual formats.
