The “Energizer Bunny” has nothing on AFCEAN of the Month D’Joane McCorkle. A 2023 winner of the AFCEA International’s Meritorious Medal, McCorkle has continued to provide to the Atlanta Chapter and AFCEA International with her dedication. Even while serving as an important member of the Atlanta Board of Directors, she continued on as the executive vice president of the Atlanta Chapter. She helped to define monthly programs and ensured the local chapter liaised with the Atlanta Black Chambers to promote inclusion of all in pushing STEM throughout metropolitan Atlanta. A part of the planning committee for the successful 2023 Homeland Cyber Security Conference, she identified topics of interest to the community. While attending the conference, she quickly recognized areas where assistance was needed and filled in, even becoming a “microphone runner” on occasion to ensure everyone could hear members with questions and contributions. McCorkle also located other volunteers to take on responsibilities in support of the conference and has been key in defining lessons learned from the event. Following the conference, McCorkle didn’t rest but contacted the leadership of the Augusta Chapter, asking to serve as a volunteer at TechNet Augusta—an event she attended each day to see where she could provide additional support.

McCorkle has 20+ years experience in the corporate sector. Having served as a senior marketing management professional for a Fortune 100 company, she established DHM Enterprises LLC in 2017. McCorkle has served in various capacities, affording her a unique perspective in today’s competitive marketplace. Examples of her business achievements include securing a three-year direct-awarded federal contract with the National Science Foundation to develop and implement a Research Security Training Module. She also has helped win a six-figure contract for training small businesses with the Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative. She is an effective collaborator and engages individuals at any level within an organization.

McCorkle is a seasoned business leader with more than two decades of experience in consulting, marketing, sales and project management. As a certified capture manager, she is an active member of the Atlanta Black Chambers, the Government Contractors Association and the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Additionally, McCorkle works with various community-based initiatives, including the United Negro College Fund, Junior Achievement and Open Hand.

McCorkle received a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Oakwood College (now Oakwood University) located in Huntsville, Alabama, and an MBA from Iowa State University.

In recognition of her tireless efforts to the community, the chapter and AFCEA International, AFCEA is proud to name D’Joane McCorkle AFCEAN of the Month.
