Are Visualizations the Future of Science?

Science visualizations were once merely pretty images. Using supercomputers, scientists now render complex interactions at a variety of scales to study events that cannot be directly observed. Los Alamos National Laboratory is studying the outcome of the ice melting in the Arctic and how it affects the environment around it.
