Diana Gowen, Longtime AFCEA Board Member, Has Died
Diana Gowen, a legend in the government telecommunications industry and an active member of the AFCEA Budget and Finance Committee, passed away May 28.
Diana Gowen, a legend in the government telecommunications industry and an active member of the AFCEA Budget and Finance Committee, passed away May 28 after a long battle with cancer.
For more than 30 years, Gowen played a pivotal role in U.S. government communications infrastructure modernization and transformation. She held leadership positions with major telecommunications companies, including CenturyLink Federal, Qwest Government Services, MCI Government Services and AT&T Commercial Markets, with a long track record of working and winning major government contracts.
Her roles earned her credibility, respect and recognition across the industry including a recent Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Business Awards in 2018.
Gowen was a member and supporter of AFCEA for decades, to include being a member of the board of directors and executive committee. She was an active member of the Budget and Finance Committee and also served on the Small Business Committee for some time.
Gowen earned her bachelor of science degree in business and math, and later a master of business administration degree from the University of Maryland. For the past four-and-a-half years she was the senior vice president and general manager of MetTel’s federal practice.
