LGS Wins Contract for Network Upgrades at Fort Polk

LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent, has received a $6.45 million task order from the U.S. Department of the Army. LGS will provide infrastructure and optical fiber upgrades to Fort Polk, Louisiana, and several range areas. LGS will also install two new communications shelters, consolidating communications nodes and upgrading the core hardware solution to 10 Gigabits. The award is under the infrastructure modification contract and is in support of the installation information infrastructure program (I3MP) managed by the network service center (NSC) at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. NSC upgrades and modernizes core data backbone and telecommunications infrastructure at Army installations worldwide.
