U.S. Army Utilizing Several Ways To Integrate Innovative Technologies
Leaders with the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) are making the necessary adjustments to ensure they continue to develop and produce groundbreaking technologies.
First, the service has created and incorporated three separate organizations to assist in this essential task. Those groups are known as Theater Fires Element, Theater Information Advantage Directorate, and Theater Space and Strike Effects. Between those teams, about 225 additional personnel will work to achieve several different assignments, according to Gen. Charles Flynn, commanding general of the USARPAC.
“[They] will be added to my headquarters to do lethal and nonlethal targeting; to bring the capabilities of the multidomain task forces and the cores and the divisions together; to be able to see, make sense, understand and then to gain and maintain contact in all the domains; [to] be able to collect, synthesize, fuse and then conduct lethal [and] nonlethal targeting to protect, defend or conduct offensive operations,” Gen. Flynn said at TechNet Indo-Pacific 2024.
“I would tell you at the operational and theater level, that’s probably the most organizational change that I’ve seen in my time in the Army, and it’s happening right here in this theater,” Gen. Flynn added.
Second, there is a transformation happening at the organizational level, specifically in the Pacific Division, otherwise known as the 25th Division. Within that branch, several groups, including the division artillery, the division Combat Aviation Brigade, the division Sustainment Brigade and the new Intelligent Electronic Warfare Battalion, are facing a handful of tasks, according to Gen. Flynn.
“[They will] be able to insert new technologies; new capabilities: make them lighter, make them more mobile, make them more lethal and allow them an organizational construct that is an easier fit when you have to take tactical formations,” Gen. Flynn said.
