Courses for Industry Members by Atlanta Chapter

In 2005-2006, AFCEA-Atlanta recognized a need to educate industry partners on working with the military. The chapter created a Vice President, Education to concentrate on initiating free programs and making the arrangements needed to serve its membership in this arena. The program has continued and expanded during the four years since its inception. Programs have included Army/government contracting, DoD 101, introduction to AFCEA for new members, as well as technical classes such as data center design and computer/internet security. Most, but not all, of the instructors are volunteers from the Chapter¿s membership. The classes last an hour and are generally held prior to the monthly luncheons. They have been a big draw for small business in the Atlanta area and have resulted in a large increase in our corporate membership.

Include AFCEA Membership in Non-Member Event Rates by Los Angeles Chapter

Set registration fees at $50 more for non-members than members; the chapter then uses that extra $50 to purchase a one-year AFCEA membership for the attendee. It helps with chapter growth and AFCEA growth, as many of them renew their memberships after seeing all the advantages of it

Highlighting Diversity at Chapter Luncheons by Greater Omaha Chapter

Our VP for Diversity has put together a benchmark program which highlights national diversity awareness initiatives or local themes pertinent to our chapter every month. She includes a short 5-10 min speaker prior to the featured luncheon speaker, to introduce the topic and most presentations are interactive games or discussions with the chapter membership.
