AFCEA Teacher Grants Support Future STEM Leaders

The AFCEA Educational Foundation is committed to supporting STEM learning. The foundation strives for young learners to develop an early interest and background in STEM with the Gravely and Paige Grants for STEM Teachers. The grants provide elementary and middle school teachers with resources to help them provide early STEM learning experiences to engage, inspire and build confidence in students and set them on a path to success in STEM.

The Gravely Grants for elementary school STEM teachers are named after Vice Adm. Samuel L. Gravely Jr., USN (Ret.), who was the foundation’s first executive director and initiated AFCEA’s science and technology teaching tool grants programs.

The Paige Grants for middle school STEM teachers are named after Lt. Gen. Emmett Paige Jr., USA (Ret.). Gen. Paige served in the U.S. Army for more than 40 years and was a member of AFCEA’s board of directors. 

The Gravely and Paige Grants are a joint effort between AFCEA chapters and the AFCEA Educational Foundation. Grants of up to $1,000 are awarded to elementary and middle schools in the United States to help with costs for activities both inside and outside of the classroom.

Applicants must be teaching science, technology, engineering or math at an elementary or middle school in the U.S. The foundation is committed to creating opportunities for all students. Teachers working in schools with high economic need are encouraged to apply. Interested applicants should submit a detailed proposal with the application. Selection will be based on potential use of the funds and financial need. The application deadline is July 31, 2020.
