An Un-FORE-gettable Event: Raising Funds for STEM Education

The tournament, sponsored by 24 companies, brought in more than $40,000 for AFCEA's Educational Foundation.

On Monday, 140 golfers hit the links for another successful AFCEA Educational Foundation Golf Tournament to raise money for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) scholarships and teacher grants.

The tournament, sponsored by 24 companies, brought in more than $40,000 as golfers competed for bragging rights and prizes, all while raising money for AFCEA’s Educational Foundation programs, which focus on supporting the cyber, defense, homeland security and intelligence communities.

“On behalf of AFCEA International, I want to thank our sponsors and everyone who participated in this tournament,” said Lt. Gen. Susan S. Lawrence, USA (Ret.), AFCEA International president and CEO. “Our Educational Foundation cultivates funding that supports STEM education, ensuring students and teachers have the necessary funds to operate in an ever-changing workforce.”

The foundation, in conjunction with AFCEA chapters worldwide, provides more than $2 million in scholarships and grants a year and directly affects the education of students who aspire to be cyber operators, engineers, scientists, data analysts, teachers, cryptographers, entrepreneurs and so much more.
