The U.S. Navy established the Navy Cyber Forces (CYBERFOR) today at the Joint Expeditionary Base, Little Creek-Fort Story in Norfolk, Virginia. Vice Adm. H. Denby Starling II, USN, assumed command of CYBERFOR. He'll continue to serve as commander of NETWARCOM. CYBERFOR is the type commander for cryptology, signals intelligence, cyber, electronic warfare, information operations, intelligence, networks, and space disciplines. CYBERFOR will report to the commander for the U.S. Fleet Forces. Its mission is to organize and prioritize manpower, training, modernization and maintenance requirements; capabilities of C2 architecture and networks; cryptologic and space-related systems; and intelligence and information operations activities.
