Entities Partner With NATO’s Innovation Accelerator

The alliance’s effort to leverage private sector technologies gains several adroit players.

Three U.S. organizations, MassChallenge, Mission Innovation X at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT MIx), and Starburst Aerospace, will collaborate with NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), a program that connects innovators with resources to advance technology and find solutions for defense and security needs.

The partners have experience with accelerating technological innovations in their fields, and can build relationships with innovators, investors and key players for NATO’s programs, according to a June 1 press release issued by Starburst Aerospace. The company announced its partnership and detailed DIANA’s program and mission, highlighting the experience of each member in accelerating innovation. The organizations will support DIANA’s upcoming launch of its challenge programs to advance deep technical and dual-use solutions by acting as accelerator sites with their expertise and resources,

DIANA aims to help NATO work with the private sector to adopt and integrate new technologies for defense and security problems. The organization is  looking to advance emerging and disruptive technologies that will help strengthen the member nations’ operations.

MassChallenge acts as a global network for innovators, working toward its mission of equipping entrepreneurs to make meaningful change. It connects startups, experts, corporations and communities to foster collaborative innovation worldwide in a variety of fields. Recently, the company taught business essentials to 49 Israeli startups to prepare them for attracting investors and growing their ideas.

Starburst Aerospace is a global aerospace accelerator that brings startups into a network of corporations, investors and governments, and provides growth and investment consulting. Its global accelerator programs work to help startups scale their businesses and progress innovations.

MIT MIx works to connect mission-driven organizations to capability providers, often dual-use ventures that they work to promote in a broader context. They also accelerate dual-use ventures, including with innovation programs like grants, partnerships and sponsored research.
