Longtime Chapter Leader Retires After 52 Years of AFCEA Service
After 52 years of serving AFCEA through chapter operations and committee leadership, Col. James Lauducci, USAF (Ret.), retired December 31, 2024.
Lauducci’s first volunteer position with AFCEA began in 1972 when he joined the Greater Omaha Chapter as the publicity committee chairman. He took pictures at the chapter’s events and wrote articles that were published by SIGNAL Media.
Lauducci was the first active-duty military member to serve as the president of an AFCEA chapter. After helping to establish the Northern Virginia Chapter, he served as the chapter’s president from 1985 to 1986. Lauducci also created a new AFCEA chapter in Izmir, Turkey, in 1980. When he retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1988, he joined the AFCEA International staff as the director of chapter operations. He also created and managed the Career Planning Center.
In 1994, Lauducci transitioned to the corporate world but remained active in the AFCEA community. He served on AFCEA’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Strategic Planning Committee, and he chaired the Membership Committee. Until his retirement, he offered his services to the Washington, D.C. Chapter.
During Lauducci’s time serving AFCEA, the association recognized his dedication to its mission. He received the Meritorious Service Award in 1987, the Medal of Merit in 1997 and the Admiral Jon L. Boyes Medal for Distinguished Service to AFCEA in 2007.
