Starburst Advances Defense Innovation With New Accelerator Program
Paris-based technology accelerator Starburst announced the launch of its third cohort. Five startup companies have joined the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) CATALYST Accelerator. The technologies represent nine focus areas: artificial intelligence, propulsion systems, autonomy, robotics and drones, space technology, energy and sustainability, quantum science, advanced materials and manufacturing, and advanced data dissemination systems.
The IAI CATALYST program is based at the IAI North America Innovation Center in Washington, D.C. The program helps early-stage companies in the United States with funding opportunities, strategic mentorship, technical collaboration and direct access to the organization’s engineering teams. The startups will work toward securing a pilot project with IAI.
Cohort 3 is made up of the following companies:
- Atolla Tech – Builds light detection and ranging (LiDAR)-based systems that detect and identify small drones. A SWAP optimized LiDAR-based counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) solution identifies UAS in a fraction of a second using the propeller electronic signature created by the sensors and analyzed by the machine learning algorithm.
- AugSense – Develops human sensor fusion technology to enhance performance and safeguard lives in defense environments. By leveraging advanced Application programming interfaces and adaptable architectures, AugSense enables integration into existing infrastructure.
- Dalion B.V. – Revolutionizes electric propulsion systems for next-generation aviation and drone platforms.
- Omira Systems – Designs AI-based, self-healing communication infrastructure for use in denied and contested environments.
- Stealth – Builds next-generation navigation capabilities.

Running alongside the IAI CATALYST program, Starburst’s Innovet program has also reached a key milestone. Ten weeks into the program, teams of reservists and discharged soldiers showcased their minimal viable product progress and market insights at the mid-program status update event.
The technologies focus on artificial intelligence, defense technology, remote sensing, legal tech, wearable health devices, subsea infrastructure and autonomous systems.
According to the website, the program offers hands-on training and development tools. Participants will gain skills to create solutions and connect with investors and industry leaders.
