For 80 years, AFCEA has served as a trusted bridge connecting government, military, industry and academia in support of a common purpose: advancing information technology, communications and innovation to strengthen national security, intelligence and global stability. Reaching 80 years is a testament not only to the longevity of the organization, but to the enduring value of its mission and the dedication of those who have carried it forward through generations of technological and geopolitical change.

As we reflect on this milestone, we should take pride in what AFCEA has accomplished since its founding in 1946. From the earliest days of military communications to today’s rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, cyber operations, cloud computing, space technologies and data-driven decision-making, AFCEA has remained a trusted forum where ideas, expertise and partnerships come together to address the world’s most pressing challenges.

AFCEA’s role as a convener, educator and trusted partner remains essential. Through our conferences, professional development programs, publications and educational initiatives, we continue to create opportunities for meaningful dialogue and shared understanding that help advance mission success.

Equally important is the work of the AFCEA Educational Foundation, which, along with its global network of chapters, has invested millions of dollars in STEM teacher grants, student scholarships and workforce development programs that inspire and prepare the next generation of innovators, engineers, cyber professionals and technology leaders.

While anniversaries are a time to celebrate achievements, they are also opportunities to look ahead. The most important chapter in AFCEA’s story is not the one behind us—it is the one we are writing today.

We must continue to embrace innovation, foster emerging leaders and expand opportunities for the next generation of technologists, military leaders and public servants. We must remain focused on bringing together diverse perspectives, encouraging thoughtful dialogue and helping our members navigate the challenges and opportunities that will define the future.

As chair, I am inspired by the exceptional team of volunteers, chapters, board members and headquarters staff who make AFCEA’s success possible every day. Together, we will build upon the strong foundation established by those who came before us while ensuring that AFCEA continues to evolve, grow and thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Happy 80th Anniversary, AFCEA. Here’s to the next decades of innovation, collaboration and service.
