AFCEA and Educating the IC

AFCEA’s Professional Development Center (PDC) offers many ways to help members of our Intelligence Community (IC) stay current in the ever-changing landscape of Intelligence. AFCEA facilitates multiple avenues for members to further their education and keep skills current in an online, on-demand or on-site format.

Our “U.S. Intelligence: An Introduction” two-day on-site classis available to organizations for a fixed fee. Attendees receive a broad overview of the roles, functions, activities and current issues from an instructor with over 30 years of experience in the IC.

AFCEA partners with academic Institutions designated as a National Security Agency Center of Academic Excellence in cybersecurity and/or certifying agencies with a certification required by the Department of Defense to offer discounted rates on courses. Members can choose from our three Preferred Providers (American Public University System, SANS Institute and Western Governors’ University) to further their knowledge in counterterrorism, counterintelligence, data analytics, homeland security, information assurance, intelligence analysis, intelligence studies, national security, open-source intelligence and strategic intelligence. Members may receive tuition discounts toward certificates, bachelor’s or higher degrees.

We also offer on-demand courses that may be helpful for members of the IC and include Analytic Techniques, Critical and Creative Thinking, Emergency Management, Evaluating and Marshaling Evidence and Analytic Writing.  These courses are offered at a discount for AFCEA members.

There are also a number of webinars, white papers and thought leadership articles available in the Resources section of our website to keep you current with emerging technology and policy in the IC. AFCEA also holds several events each year organized by our Intelligence Department: Intelligence and National Security Summit, the Spring Intelligence Symposium and the Defense Intelligence Agency TECHINT Conference.

The AFCEA PDC is here to help you advance in your career and continue your education. You can use most of our offerings at your convenience. If you need additional information, please visit afcea.org.
