AFCEA Answers: A Plan for Protecting the Nation's Infrastructure
It's important for the government, working with industry, to have a plan in place to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure, according to Suzanne Spaulding, acting undersecretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, who spoke during a recent episode of AFCEA Answers.
Many people take for granted electricity for their homes, running water from the tap or natural gas for heating and cooking. But even a single day without any of these resources is enough to cause disruption at home with ripple effects through communities and the economy.
That’s why it's important for the government, working with industry, to have a plan in place to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure, according to Suzanne Spaulding, acting undersecretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Speaking on a recent edition of the AFCEA Answers radio program, Spaulding described the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), unveiled in December 2013, as “a really important document."
