AFCEA Welcomes New Director of Advertising Strategies

Wendy Young has joined the AFCEA International family and leads the talented communications team’s sales group in managing the association’s advertising strategies and programs. She joined the team in late November and replaces Bodil Lund, who has retired.

Young comes with a wealth of experience in several disciplines, bringing a unique skill set to the job as she optimizes opportunities to help deliver a full and strategic advertising plan that connects customers to their ideal audiences.

She is an experienced business owner and administration professional who has also held roles in sales, marketing and journalism, and has excelled at overseeing a wide variety of essential functions in business, communication and public service.  

At AFCEA, Young will be responsible for building client commitment and leveraging advertising intelligence to help drive AFCEA’s sales strategies and tactics among other duties, said Sandra Jontz, AFCEA’s vice president for marketing and communications.  

“We are thrilled to welcome such a talented individual who will play a key role in meeting our loyal clients’ advertising needs,” Jontz said.  

“What an honor it is to be welcomed into such a wonderful community of individuals; the loyal members as well as the AFCEA family,” Young said. “I want to start by thanking those who have served this country, and their family members, for the great sacrifices you have made as well. I am eager to help AFCEA surpass the needs of our growing community of service men and women, small businesses, large corporations and those with just a special interest in our growing network of information.”

Young replaces Lund, a treasured staff member who retired after 3.5 years with the association. “While we are thrilled to congratulate Bodil on this happy occasion, we will most assuredly miss her dedication, grace, keen attention to details, mad math skills and amazing humor,” Jontz said.
