Christina Purkapile became an active member/volunteer of the Augusta-Fort Gordon Chapter upon changing job locations in 2020, and she has been with AFCEA International for seven years. After becoming a chapter board member, Purkapile excelled in various chapter leadership positions, beginning with vice president of programs and later adding chair for the 2022 AFCEA Augusta TechNet Educational Foundation Golf Tournament annual fundraiser, which was by far the largest tournament held by the chapter, with more than 190 players and raising more than $25,000.
As the vice president of programs, Purkapile coordinated four planned monthly Lunch and Learns at the Gordon Club even when it was under reconstruction and COVID-19 restrictions.
But she executed it flawlessly, and more than 30 attendees came to each Lunch and Learn. Scheduling keynote speakers and de-conflicting their schedules takes patience and continual due diligence, which she performs at the highest level. Purkapile selflessly contributes her time/support/leadership to this chapter and its members.
Purkapile is the National Cyber Platform lead for the Booz Allen Hamilton Augusta, Georgia, office. She is responsible for developing strategies to drive growth within the cyber market, maintaining the existing cyber footprint and partnering with other accounts to leverage Booz Allen Hamilton capabilities across client initiatives.
Purkapile is also an Army veteran, serving nine years in the military as a Signals Intelligence analyst, including two deployments, one as the Signals Intelligence noncommissioned officer in charge of Multi-National Division Baghdad, 3rd Infantry Division, in which Purkapile was awarded the Bronze Star for her leadership.
She is a published author and has a B.S. in political science and a master’s in advanced counterterrorism and terrorism studies focusing on cybersecurity and extremist organizations. She also received Georgia Trend’s 2017 40 Under 40 award. Last, she serves on the board of directors for the Development Authority of Columbia County and the local AFCEA chapter.
In recognition of her dedication to the Augusta-Fort Gordon Chapter and the association, AFCEA proudly names Christina Purkapile AFCEAN of the Month.
