Jon Hobbs, Ph.D., has been active in AFCEA over the past decade in several AFCEA chapters. Prior to joining the Atlanta Chapter, Hobbs was an active member within both the Indiana Chapter and the Tokyo Chapter. Since moving to the Atlanta area several years ago, he has been a regular presence at chapter events. Last January, he became the chapter’s scholarship vice president. He worked with existing officers to update the scholarship program to align with federal goals.

He has actively assisted other officers, finding speakers, venues and topics that appeal to membership. For example, he worked with the Emerging Leaders to get a narrated tour of a biplane that saw action in World War II.

He also helped secure speakers for a panel on angel investing for small businesses that was very popular. He has actively reached out to other professional organizations about teaming up with the Atlanta Chapter for events or sessions at AFCEA’s Homeland Security Conference. This year, he is even offering a session of his own during the event. A natural connector, Hobbs regularly connects and introduces people within the community, which has certainly been beneficial to the Atlanta Chapter.

Hobbs has a deep understanding of the AFCEA mission and a depth of knowledge that most don’t possess. We hope he stays in Atlanta for a long time.

Hobbs is a director at IP Solution, with more than a decade of international experience, conjuring protections for cutting-edge creations, particularly in software, electronic arts, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data processing. With a Ph.D. in neuroscience and physics from Indiana University Bloomington, Hobbs possesses a rare blend of scientific acumen and legal prowess. This makes him uniquely equipped to handle the complex and evolving landscape of AI and related technologies.

Hobbs is fluent in Japanese, a skill that allows him to navigate the intricate world of international IP law with unparalleled finesse. He can bridge cultural divides, turning complex cases across different jurisdictions into successful ventures for his clients. He has obtained patents for Fortune 100 giants like Verizon, Yahoo and Capital One on everything from AI implementation in banking software to hologram AR/VR systems and big data query systems.
