AFCEAN of the Month, September 2025

Stephen Davis, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, has been an active part of AFCEA’s Camp Pendleton Chapter for a long time. He is a jack-of-all-trades and has helped out with everything the chapter has ever done. You will see him running registration desks, talking to new members at conferences, taking high-quality pictures, speaking to the catering staff, running the audio and visual systems, liaising with other chapters, helping with the finances and attending meetings with university students to get them signed up with the chapter. The truth is he is better at doing everything than most of us are at doing one thing. He is sincere and passionate about AFCEA and the Camp Pendleton Chapter.
For a long time, the AFCEA Camp Pendleton Chapter looked like it had died. Without Davis, we would have had to start all over with the reincarnation of the chapter after years of dormancy. His wealth of knowledge about every aspect of the chapter and his wisdom in analyzing best practices for the future is truly unparallelled. If Davis were to say something was a bad idea, we wouldn’t do it. However, Davis only says no if it is clearly a bad idea based on historical data. For the most part, he is a real collaborator, willing to try new things and open to helping with whatever needs to be done.
The final aspect that makes Davis a true AFCEAN is his humility. He doesn’t strive for acknowledgement—just for the chapter to be successful. He doesn’t want the chapter to be successful so he can tell everyone about it on social media, but so other people like him find a home with AFCEA Camp Pendleton. He is truly one of a kind. The Camp Pendleton Chapter is extraordinarily lucky to have him.
