Hughes to Produce Enterprise Management and Control Prototype

The Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center selected Germantown, Maryland-based Hughes Network Systems to develop an enterprise management and control prototype for satellite communications, according to the company. The contract runs through the Space Enterprise Consortium. Under the $2.2 million effort, Hughes will work to demonstrate automated mission planning solutions for satellite communications terminals. Users will be able to access various networks through an automated control processes.

“Leveraging the company's artificial intelligence-based flexible modem interface and mission management system prototypes, Hughes intends to develop and demonstrate the capability for terminals designed for unmanned aerial vehicles to intelligently roam among diverse satellite networks and services,” the company stated.
