Golden Dome for America Invites Industry Partnerships
As the team behind the Golden Dome for America pursues its mission toward a multilayered missile defense system, it turns to industry to aid in its success.
In the last eight months, the Golden Dome team has successfully completed two live-fire exercises, said Golden Dome for America Vice Director Lt. Gen. Brian Gibson, USA.
“We’re talking about them after the fact, and that’s intentional,” he said during a fireside chat at the 2026 Intelligence & National Security Summit in Bethesda, Maryland. The exercises were meant to challenge and add complexity to integrated remote defense capability, he explained.
“One of the central things in our effort is on the command-and-control aspects, on how do we integrate today’s and tomorrow’s capabilities together and do it differently to get lethal live coverage,” Gibson stated. Additionally, the live-fire exercises were designed to validate software and sensor-to-shooter linkages, he added.
Overall, the Golden Dome initiative is taking legacy and current capabilities and connecting them with emerging technology, the vice director explained, indicating integrated partnerships with industry.
Notably, just two weeks ago, the Pentagon announced its launch of the Golden Dome for America Hub, aimed to “accelerate industry engagement” and “revolutionize homeland missile defense partnerships.”
According to Gibson, the hub is open to all industry members, including small businesses.
“Tell us what you can do, without us going to ask what you can do,” Gibson said of the hub, noting that his team does not intend to send requests for proposal unless absolutely necessary.
The hub has received growing interest, with thousands of responses from industry.
“That gives me a lot of faith and a lot of hope in our approach with the defense industry, and we look to harness that innovation and come up with new ways to partner with solutions,” Gibson stated.
The 2026 Intelligence and National Security Summit is co-hosted by AFCEA International and INSA. SIGNAL Media is the official media of AFCEA International.
