From the Desk of AFCEA’s Emerging Professionals in the Intelligence Community (EPIC) Committee

AFCEA joins committee leadership in welcoming new members to the AFCEA Emerging Professionals in the Intelligence Community (EPIC) Committee. The committee had a very diverse pool of applicants this year, and members are excited to welcome the individuals to EPIC. Please join the association in extending a warm welcome to this year’s new members:

  • Molly Just, senior director, In-Q-Tel
  • David Knopp, president, Reflexive Concepts
  • Amanda Mercier, principal data scientist manager, Microsoft
  • Edwin Quinn, research scientist& engineering manager, TAP Engineering
  • MacKenzie Porter, intelligence analyst, Department of Defense
  • Blair Tighe, regional sales manager, Synopsys Software Integrity Group

The committee, comprised of intelligence community (IC) professionals younger than age 40 from the public and private sectors, enhances AFCEA’s outreach and education to the IC. The committee is an extension of the longstanding and highly regarded AFCEA Intelligence Committee.

EPIC is an exciting, high-energy group focused on developing leaders, networking and giving back to the IC.

Here are a few things the committee does:

  • Develops Leaders. EPIC members have access to accomplished senior executives from across industry and government as they speak about their experiences and the current issues facing the IC. Committee members have the opportunity to give back to the IC through projects and events they lead and support.
  • Facilitates Networking. EPIC members are next-generation leaders in government and industry from across the IC. Through committee and association interactions, members can build invaluable contacts and relationships that are satisfying both personally and professionally.
  • Offers Education. EPIC’s growing education outreach program encourages future leaders to choose and continue a career in intelligence.

EPIC hosts Speaker Series events to educate young professionals in different areas related to intelligence.

Congratulations and welcome to the new and returning members.

Each month, SIGNAL Magazine publishes a feature in the Committee Corner to highlight news you can us from AFCEA’s committees. Committee leaders should submit entries to Sandra Jontz. Happy writing.
