DOD Seeks Sources on Cybersecurity, C4, IT and Data Analytics

The market research effort could lead to a future procurement effort.

The U.S. Defense Department has initiated a market research effort to identify potential industry sources under a potential five-year, $325 million acquisition program for technical support services. The market research effort could potentially lead to a contract award this fiscal year.

The Department’s Office of the Chief Information Officer published the sources sought notice on Friday via the FedBizOps website. The announcement identified five key technical areas: provide enterprise policy and technical support; drive secure information enterprise services; assist in DOD IT investment analysis; strengthening cybersecurity; and command, control, communications and information infrastructure technical research support services.

Department officials are looking for companies that can conduct research and development, ensure interoperability and prescribe network and cybersecurity standards. Companies also should be able to provide enterprisewide cloud computing and big data analytics and support the Joint Information Environment and the Joint Regional Security Stacks. In addition, the department seeks vendors capable of monitoring and evaluating performance of IT investments and researching and analyzing IT modernization initiatives. Regarding cybersecurity, the department’s chief information officer wants to identify industry sources capable of assisting in the oversight of cybersecurity strategy, policy and workforce development. Under the area of C4 and information infrastructure, the department hopes to obtain assistance in providing the comprehensive technical research support services required to facilitate enhancements and efficiencies.
