Joint Staff Hosts Industry Day
The Joint Chiefs of Staff Force Structure, Resources and Assessment Directorate (J-8) invites businesses to attend a Joint Staff Industry Conference.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff Force Structure, Resources and Assessment Directorate (J-8) invites businesses to attend a Joint Staff Industry Conference to better understand the similarities and differences among the military's strategic vision and challenges, National Military Strategy document and Fiscal Years 2019-2023 Capability Gap Assessment. Gen. Paul Selva, USAF, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be the keynote speaker.
Goals of this conference include explaining the plans’ sections so industry and academia can determine which capabilities gaps they can help fill. In addition, the J-8 aims to speed the “triage of ideas” by connecting industry with government organizations tasked with addressing capability gaps.
Brig. Gen. David Krumm, USAF, deputy director for requirements (J-8), will set the stage for the discussions with a capabilities area overview. Following Gen. Selva’s remarks, Maj. Gen. Christopher McPadden, USA, deputy director for joint strategic planning (J-5), is scheduled to speak about the 2016 National Military Strategy, and Gen. Krumm will explain the challenges of operations in contested/degraded environments. Afternoon topics include the national military logistic framework; multi-domain intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and innovation initiatives.
The main conference is classified at the Secret/NOFORN level. Top Secret/SCI breakout sessions for discussions about space communication/mission assurance and cyber issues will take place in the afternoon.
The event takes place 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on May 19 at the National Geospatial Center’s Arthur Lundahl Conference Center in Springfield, Virginia. The registration deadline is May 17. Additional information and registration information is available online.
