SIGNAL Media welcomed award-winning journalist Diego Laje to join its ranks in July. Laje, who has experience as a war correspondent and who has worked with international news organizations, comes to AFCEA from La Nacion, where he served as the international correspondent and assistant executive producer.

At SIGNAL, he is focused on international news and covering the U.S. Navy and reports to Editor in Chief George I. Seffers. “We are quite fortunate to welcome a seasoned reporter with such an impressive background that Diego brings to us from his years in the profession,” Seffers said. “He is a gifted storyteller and an ambitious and successful journalist eager to report on the emerging cyber and related topics that affect our esteemed readership.” 

Laje has worked with CNN as a business and economics correspondent and as a bureau manager and senior field producer, and has published articles in The Washington Post, with CNN International and Al Jazeera Impact, among others.

“I’m excited to join the AFCEA family and contribute to the best publication in the business, covering disruptive technologies changing our lives and improving our security,” Laje said.

Laje holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Andrew’s University, Argentina; a journalism master’s degree from the University of Hong Kong, China; and specialized in comparative media law at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. He has earned one news and documentary Emmy award for outstanding morning programming in Spanish with Café CNN-CNN en Espanol and a nomination for CNN’s coverage of Typhoon Haiyan.

He speaks Spanish, Mandarin, French, Portuguese and Italian and brings impressive experience, great energy and an array of innovative ideas to the SIGNAL Media staff.
