U.S. Army Growing Enterprise Platforms
U.S. Department of the Army Chief Information Officer Leonel Garciga announced Thursday that the branch has officially added Google Gemini to its standard platform. This addition will give users access to all of the cloud providers.
“I won’t say you might choose your own adventure, but definitely choose your own adventure,” Garciga said during a keynote address at AFCEA NOVA Army IT Day 2026, held in McLean, Virginia. “There’s a lot of work happening there, and we’re in a much better place. We have a lot of enterprise platforms now that continue to grow. We’ll continue to be very public about what those are to make sure that everybody in industry understands what our ecosystem looks like, and not just to get closer at our shot, but [to show] a good way to think about how we solve some of the Army’s problems.”
Army leaders are also striving to lay down the foundation for the artificial intelligence and large language model spaces. Garciga briefly listed actionable items that the branch has been focused on and still needs to address.
Leaders have been evaluating core aspects that they need to focus on across the enterprise. Through their analysis, officials discovered they need to deliver foundational cloud in a static way across all of their cloud providers, Garciga said.
